Trumpet, Flugelhorn & Trombone

Malcolm Strachan has been a pro trumpet player since he left Leeds college of music in 1996 and went on to co-found horn section/funk band The Haggis Horns. A multi instrumentalist, composer & arranger he also plays flugelhorn and valve trombone.

 

 

During his career he has worked with countless artists & toured the world with big international names such as Mark Ronson, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jamiroquai, Martha Reeves & Lou Donaldson. He has recorded on countless pop tracks with many artists.

 

 

He has won numerous awards including The Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Musician of the Year & BBC Radio 2’s Soloist of the Year (National Big Band Awards) and has appeared on everything from The Word to Oprah.

 

 

He grew up listening to jazz with his trombone playing Dad and has recently returned to his roots with his solo project. His first solo album ‘About Time’ (Haggis Records) got album of the week on Jazz FM and his highly anticipated second solo album ‘Point Of No Return’ is out now.
